What are chemical peels – glow therapy?
Some individuals feel that their skin has lost the healthiness and glow that it once had. Chemical peels are a great option for patients who wish to restore a youthful complexion, often without significant downtime or discomfort. Chemical peels come in a variety of different solutions, which enables us at ICLS to entirely customize a treatment program to suit individual needs. These peels include Jessners, Kojic, TCA and Salicylic. All peels are designed to gently remove superficial layers of skin to reveal fresh, new skin cells underneath without causing significant downtime, redness or peeling.
Is it right for me?
Chemical peels can be used to address uneven skin tone, pigmented and textural acne scarring, acne, clogged pores, dull skin, fine lines and brown spots. They also treat a number of other conditions including xanthelasma (fatty deposits around the eyes) and torn earlobes.
What should I expect?
At the time of the procedure a chemical peel solution will be applied to clean, dry skin. Additional layers may be applied depending on the concern, and the type of peel. A fan will be passed over the skin to dry the chemicals, as well as to soothe any stinging discomfort. Some patients will experience visible peeling around 3–5 days after the peel although it is very normal to not experience any peeling at all since it may not visible to the naked eye. We do recommend repeat treatments spaced approximately 4–6 weeks apart as the skin will continue to build up with dead cells over a 30-45 day cycle.
