It is extremely common for patients to complain that certain wrinkles cause them to look much older than they feel. This is common around the eyes “crow’s feet” and between the brows “frown lines.” While most patients don’t mind having some wrinkles, it’s the more prominent or deep wrinkles that are the most troubling. Dysport™ can help to soften the appearance of these wrinkles, while creating a more youthful appearance. Dysport™ works by weakening the signal that is passed between the brain and the muscle; which softens these overly strong facial expressions or “wrinkles.” As the severe pull of the muscle relaxes, the overlying skin ultimately flattens and smoothes. Dysport® does not completely stop all of the movement in the area in which it is injected. Many people who have never had treatment may be concerned about having no wrinkles or appearing frozen. Fortunately a natural and conservative approach to wrinkle reduction is actually best achieved using either BOTOX® or Dysport®. It will soften lines and reduce deep wrinkles, while still allowing you to remain full of expression. This approach is different than other injectable treatments such as Restylane® and Juvéderm®, which work by “filling” or “plumping” wrinkles or deep depressions.
