Okay, okay, we know that pun was a little too obvious for a post about chin augmentation, but we couldn’t help it. Dr. Khanna, ICLS’s resident female plastic surgeon was recently asked by the National Post for her opinion on the growing trend of chin augmentation. According to the article; recently released statistics by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons shows that the popularity of chin augmentation in the U.S. grew by 71% in 2011. This is more than the combined growth of breast implant surgery, BOTOX® and liposuction.
The popularity of the procedure skyrocketed in both men and women in the U.S., with the largest increase in patients over the age of 40, a segment of the population that recorded a 77% spike in those who underwent the surgery. Dr Khanna agrees that the surgery is just as popular here in Canada. In her words: “chin augmentation is a growing trend there’s no question about that.” When asked about the reasons people desire greater definition in their jaw line Dr. Khanna agrees that chins play a major role in how people are perceived. A strong chin and jaw line is often associated with authority, confidence and honesty.
However, non-surgical chin augmentation is also extremely common and growing at a rapid rate! Temporary fillers like Voluma® can be used to redefine the chin and jaw line, with almost no downtime. In fact, it is a very simple procedure that can be used to bring the lower face in balance with the rest of your facial features.
