Brachioplasty, also known as an arm lift, is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fatty deposits from the upper arm. As skin ages or after excess weight loss, skin tends to loose elasticity and become lax. Diet and exercise typically have little effect on diminishing the appearance of this excess skin. Surgical excision is often the most effective way of removing this excess skin.

The operation is performed under local anaesthesia with sedation, or under general anaesthesia. The procedure takes approximately two to three hours to perform. Patients can expect to have scarring that extends from the armpit, along the inside of the arm to the elbow. Our surgeon often combines our Skin Tightening using radiofrequency along with a brachioplasty procedure to improve the quality of the skin as well as the shape of the arm.

ICLS offers non-invasive options for contouring the arms including BodyTite. BodyTite gently melts fat away using radiofrequency energy, tightens the skin, and contours the body in various areas, including the arms, abdomen and thighs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does brachioplasty surgery take to heal?

Bruising and swelling will decrease within 10-20 days. The final result is evident in 4-6 weeks or sooner with continued improvement for several months.

  • What can I expect from an arm lift surgery scar?

Patients can expect to have scarring that extends from the armpit, along the inside of the arm to the elbow. Patients who have been plagued by excess skin are not often bothered by the appearance of this scar as it is concealed with the arms at your side, and scarring does fade significantly over time.

  • How much does brachioplasty surgery cost?

Brachioplasty pricing ranges from $15,000 to $22,000. Final pricing is determined upon consultation. Contact us to find out more.

Aftercare and Recovery

The operation is performed in our fully accredited Oakville clinic under local anaesthesia with sedation, or under general anaesthesia. The procedure takes approximately two to three hours to perform.

The patient goes home with the upper arms in a compression garment which must be worn for six weeks after surgery. Initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication. The sutures used are dissolvable and therefore do not have to be removed, though they may be trimmed in the days after surgery if necessary.
