Nano-nano?

mork and mindy nano-peelIf you were a fan of Robin Williams, as most of us were, we might remember during the early days of his career, a TV program called Mork and Mindy. When I heard that we were going to be doing a brand new skin rejuvenation laser treatment called “Nano-peel”, this was the first thing that came to mind. He played a martian who landed on earth and greeted everyone with a funny hand-shake and the phrase, “nano, nano”.

Well, this has nothing to do with the treatment, but is a little bit of trivia I was dying to share. So what is a Nano-peel you ask? It is one of the newest additions to the laser family that I was able to try myself a few months ago and it is definitely one of my favorite treatments. I love that it is basically painless, causes very little redness or peeling and gives absolutely lovely results.

While the nano-peel is by no means in the same realm as a resurfacing laser that can target facial skin irregularities or scarring, it is a great anti-aging treatment designed to clean up the layers of tired, dull skin.

When asked if I would trial this latest addition to the clinic, I jumped at the chance to go ahead and have both my face and neck treated. The treatment itself does not take long (staying late on a Friday after work, this was a nice little benefit that it took little, to no time to do). After the treatment, I was a little red and my skin felt a little hot but that was about it. Cold ice packs helped to soothe (and the air conditioning on full blast helped on the drive home).

By the next morning, I had little, to no redness left and started the task of moisturizing which was followed up with a nice layer of Skinsceuticals Physical fusion, SPF 50, for added moisture and protection. Throughout the day my skin was fine, and I was able to go about my daily errands with no issues. My skin was no longer hot or sore and I could put on a bit of Glominerals base powder  if I wanted with no issues.

By that night, I was starting to peel. All I can say is moisturize, moisturize and moisturize! I would highly recommend a good day and night cream – my favorite was the La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra in the day and HA5 by Skin Medica at night.

I would definitely recommend not working out for about 24 hours, but other than that, life should resume to normal right away. I also would suggest using your Clarisonic brush {insert link} at around day three, as this would also help to rid the flakiness post treatment. To help keep these results, I have started using our new night time anti-ager, Resveratrol BE.

After about a full week of flaking, my skin was smoother and softer. After 3 treatments, I was able to see some textural changes when I matched my pre and post photos. The textural change has been the biggest benefit and that is just fine by me! You can see my actual photos of my neck, below.

Would I recommend this? Yes! It has definitely become a new and loved favorite by the staff here at ICLS and I have no doubt, now that you know what a Nano-peel is, it will wind up being a favorite of yours too! “Nano, nano!”
