Do you have visible signs of aging on your face, such as fine lines and wrinkles, dull skin, sun spots, or skin that has lost its elasticity? The signs of aging can have a negative effect on your self-esteem and affect your self-image. Fortunately, there are treatments that can be performed that can address these issues. You may have already heard about laser resurfacing and what it can do to help restore your skin to a more youthful appearance. At ICLS Dermatology & Plastic Surgery, we are excited to feature the HALO laser as one of our resurfacing options for patients.
HALO Laser vs Other Lasers
Unlike other lasers, the HALO is a hybrid fractional, which means it can be dialed up or down depending on desired results and that it delivers both ablative and non-ablative technology simultaneously. This provides more effective results that can be tailored to your needs. By delivering tiny wounds to the skin while leaving large patches untouched, the laser triggers collagen and elastin production via the body’s own healing process. The downtime with a Halo is approximately 5 days and make-up use is advised at 5-7 days post to ensure adequate and effective healing.
The HALO laser also produces noticeable results with just one treatment. Other laser treatments can take six to eight treatments for the type of results that Halo can achieve in one to two.
What is the HALO Laser?
The HALO is a Hybrid Fractional Laser. It delivers ablative and non-ablative wavelengths at the same time to a tiny treatment zone to produce amazing results and patient satisfaction. The delivery of Dynamic Thermal Optimization combined with intelligent energy provides safe and effective treatments that is well tolerated by many.
What is the HALO Treatment Procedure?
Plan to be in our office for at least a couple of hours for your HALO treatment. We will apply a topical anesthetic 30 to 60 minutes before your procedure to help you remain comfortable during the treatment. We will then measure your face with the HALO’s motion-tracking technology to assist us in treating your skin evenly. Finally, we will roll the HALO handpiece over each section of skin that will be treated. Most patients report a warm to hot, prickly sensation as the laser is being applied, however, during the treatment a cold air hose is used for added comfort.
Recovery from HALO Laser Treatment
The recovery from the HALO treatment differs from person to person and is also dependent on the treatment they are requiring for their skin concerns. Deeper treatments produce more dramatic results with just one treatment, but the likelihood of some swelling, redness, and peeling afterward is greater. If you experience any discomfort, you can apply a cold compress to calm the skin. We recommend that those who receive a HALO treatment avoid sun exposure for at least a week after treatment and use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer on their skin.
We recommend that patients avoid sweating or strenuous activity for at least a few days after treatment as this could add to the redness, swelling, and discomfort. We also advise our patients to avoid touching, picking, or scratching the skin as this can lead to scarring and pigmentation issues.
Results from HALO Laser
The HALO laser produces amazing results for patients with a number of skin issues. It treats fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, enlarged pores, dullness, acne scars, and loss of elasticity while creating a more youthful, firm texture. HALO treatments are perfect for those with lighter skin types and can also be used on the body to treat skin issues on hands, legs, chest, and arms.
Most patients will see initial results approximately four to five days after treatment with the greatest results seen after about two to three weeks. Because the HALO laser stimulates collagen and elastin production, results will continue to improve over time. Additional HALO treatments may be needed to maintain your new results, however, avoiding sun exposure, using high-quality skin care, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle will help you retain your HALO results for many years to come.

Contact UsGood Candidates for HALO Laser Treatments
Men and women 18 years and older who have uneven skin tone, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, and scarring experience the greatest benefits from this treatment. It is also recommended as a possible preventative treatment for those in their 20s and 30s who have not yet experienced noticeable signs of aging.
During your consultation with one of our Doctor’s and a member of their highly trained nursing staff, we will answer any questions you have about the HALO treatment and determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. We will also go over your skin and health history to ensure you can safely undergo the HALO treatment process and talk to you about preparation, recovery time, and payment options.
In some cases, patients want more dramatic results than what a HALO laser can deliver. If you have excessive sagging skin or deep lines or wrinkles, we may suggest an alternative treatment such as FaceTite, ThermiTite, or a facelift. The knowledgeable staff at our office will help you decide which option will be best suited to your needs.
