Nail Art Trends

No matter what your style or age, most of us like to indulge in a manicure every now and then. If you’re really skilled you may even be able to do it yourself. With all the DIY kits available, it’s easier than ever.

I have always loved watching nail trends change from season to season! There are now so many different ways to express yourself on these tiny little nail beds we all have. But what happens when our nails aren’t quite up to par? Maybe we have mangled cuticles, cracked nails; or maybe your nails won’t even grow long enough to try some of the great spring 2014 nail trends?! Having healthy nails is a sign of youth and many of us lust over long, beautiful nails. I know when I see a woman with a classically beautiful manicure I’m instantly envious.

So what do we need to do overhaul our digits? At ICLS we use something called Veralac to build back the health of our nails. While it is used to treat more severe nail conditions such as malformation including onychodystrophy or nail dystrophy, psoriasis of the nails, irregular pitting, salmon patches and separation of the nail from the nail bed (onycholysis,) nail thickening (hyperkeratosis) and white discoloration of nails (leukonychia), it also happens to treat every day nail concerns as well!

So if you’re sitting there judging your fingertips because you haven’t been blessed with naturally gorgeous nails, do not fear! Whether you’re plagued by constant splitting, white marks, a divot in one of your nail beds…all of this can be easily treated using Veralac and you’ll be on the road to recovery. And don’t forget your little toesies!!!

So how does it work?

  • Using the applicator-brush provided, apply a thin layer of the product on the nail, daily.
  • The film is water soluble and dries quickly with no odour, therefore VERALAC should be applied after nail washing and drying, preferably before bed time to allow absorption overnight.
  • VERALAC may also be used under nail polish/Shellac etc. (and therefore doesn’t have to be reapplied daily in this case!)

You’re then able to get back to business and what’s really important here: being able to confidently rock the Spring 2014 nail trends. We compiled a list of what you can expect to see on hands everywhere:

1. Au naturel

Having healthy nails will be more important than ever when it comes to this trend! There is definitely no hiding behind dark colours or complex designs. So embrace this trend with natural, neutral colours like the ones below.

2. White wash

Either plain or embellished white nails are so on trend for Spring 2014. Now this trend isn’t as easy as one would think to perfect. Having a healthy, flat nail bed with trimmed cuticles is key, because the starkness of the colour can really show imperfections. So get those nails in order before trying this one!

3. Metallic

This trend allows you to try so many different tones and colours. Ranging from bronze, gold and silver, the options are endless. Check out some of the best looks below.

4. Nail art & effects

This trend has definitely been carried through from 2013. You will see lots of linear stripes, which can be accomplished with a steady hand and nail pen; or you can actually purchase appliques that make it a much simpler task. The Spring runways were also busy with eclectic, intricate designs ranging from half-moons, to full floral paintings on all ten digits. If you would like to try this, we recommend leaving this one to the professionals.
