The Importance of Sun Protection

June 3, 2011ICLS0Categories: Face, Home

With warmer weather and longer daylight hours here, it is essential to keep ourselves shielded from harmful UVA/UVB rays when going about during our day. It is good practice to wear at least an SPF 30 or higher year round on any areas that will be exposed to sunlight (face, neck, chest and hands). For a day spent at the beach where the entire body will be exposed, a full shot glass (1 oz) worth of sunscreen is recommended, remembering to reapply approximately every two hours or after getting out of the water or periods of excessive sweating.

The Skin Spa offers a diverse line of sun protection for our patients and their specific concerns:

DermaDNA85SPF – Our highest broad spectrum lotion available, best for use on the face and suitable for all skin types.

SkinCeuticals Sheer Physical UV Defence 50 – Chemical free, physical block sunscreen. Lightweight non-sticky sunscreen, suitable for a wide range of skin types including acne and oily skin.

Vivier 30SPF – Our most popular broad-spectrum moisturizer with sun protection. Excellent for daily use in all skin types as it absorbs quickly into the skin.

Colorescience Sunforgettables – 30SPF Powder Sunscreen. Great for all skin types especially acne and oily skin as it is non-pore clogging. Waterproof and comes in clear or with foundation colour.
