If you are an avid reader of our blog you may know that I spent the whole summer of 2012 gearing up for my wedding. Okay, maaaaybe “summer” is a little bit of an understatement. I had a Pinterest wedding board well populated 2 days after Colin proposed (Too much?). Okay, maybe not, but after much build-up and anticipation we finally got married September 8th 2012 at Southbrook Vineyards, a stunning winery situated in the heart of the Niagara Peninsula wine region.
Always a country girl at heart (I even got to bring my horse Okie to the venue!) I tend to gravitate towards a rustic theme with touches of vintage charm. You may also notice my now husband Colin taking to some roping before the ceremony! But this is perhaps best evidenced by the dress I chose for the big day. I actually was incredibly lucky to find a dress that met all of the criteria I had daydreamed about for years and found it at Kleinfeld, the home of “Say Yes to the Dress!” I just loved the beautiful lace keyhole back. But knowing that my skin was going to be exposed through the lace I wanted to ensure I was blemish-free. So I made sure to have a chemical peel 1 month before the big day. I then followed up with a Blu-u treatment about 1 week prior. Blu–U is an effective, non–invasive and pain–free treatment for moderate acne. Acne is caused by an excess of oil, or sebum, that’s produced by the glands that surround hair follicles. So when too much sebum and skin cells clog the follicles, they become irritated and inflamed, resulting in pimples, whiteheads or blackheads. Depending on the area being treated, a Blu-U procedure only takes about 15 minutes, and to my great pleasure the treatment is not painful and gave me no downtime.
Next, I desperately craved that glow that seems to surround every bride on their big day. So after consulting with Dr. Sapra, he suggested that I have an E2 – Ematrix™ treatment. E2 – Ematrix™ is a great option for patients wishing to dramatically improve the overall texture and tone of their skin. What makes E2 – Ematrix™ rejuvenation treatment so revolutionary is its ability to offer patients the positive results of ablative resurfacing with the low-impact benefits of non–ablative therapies. E2 – Ematrix™ is essentially a form of fractional resurfacing which gradually and over time, stimulates the replacement of aged and photo–damaged skin. It is based on the principle of microthermal treatment zones, causing damage, and ultimately stimulation to some areas, while leaving other areas of tissue completely intact. Through the creation of tiny ablative zones, E2 – Ematrix™ triggers the body’s natural healing process, therefore stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin tissue.
The benefit of fractional based therapies is being able to achieve similar results to overall resurfacing (removing full upper layers of skin), but with much less downtime. E2 – Ematrix™ can also be performed using different levels of treatment, which allowed the nurses to tailor the depth and associated downtime according to my specific skin and needs.
In addition to these three treatments I even had my teeth whitened at Dr. Narang’s office, who are our lovely neighbors located on the south side of our cosmetic surgery building. And last but very not least I jumped on the GliSODin bandwagon. If you are an avid reader of our blog you will know that almost everyone has tried a GliSODin cleanse at some point during their tenure at ICLS. GliSODin skin nutrients is a professional oral supplement which boosts your beauty regimen. The products contain powerful antioxidants and bioactive nutraceuticals that promote enhanced and longer lasting results from skin treatments and skincare programs. I selected the Skin Nutrients Detoxification cleanse since its specially formulated to promote detoxification through the liver, kidneys, intestinal tract, and skin to promote optimum health. Many studies have shown that poor health and oxidative stress can lead to blemished, discoloured and dull skin, as well as premature aging. I am confident the cleanse not only gave me the glowing skin that I craved, but also helped me to shed a few unwanted pounds in the process.
I was so honoured to have Dr. Khanna and Dr. Sapra in attendance with 75 other close friends and family. Dr. Sapra even admitted to shedding a tear *sniff sniff,* and other staff members expressed the same emotion about the pie bar (I’m looking at you Abi and Katie.)
Thank you to all of my ICLS family for being so supportive. If you would like to see even more photos of the big day, head on over to my blog: http://www.lovingthegray.com/
