What is Pixel Laser?

Pixel provides fractional ablative skin resurfacing and laser peeling. This is a gradual ablative procedure that stimulates the replacement of aged and photo–damaged skin. The pixel is used for the treatment of fine lines, scars, enlarged pores, and rough skin texture and pigmentation problems. Pixel represents a new science and category of cosmetic skin surgery that offers patients the positive results of ablative resurfacing with the low-impact benefits of non–ablative therapies. Unlike traditional ablative resurfacing lasers such as the CO2 that take off the top layers of skin, Pixel produces tiny, microscopic sites of thermal impact separated by areas of unaffected, healthy tissue. This will trigger the body’s natural healing process, stimulating the growth of healthy, new skin tissue. This significantly diminishes the amount of downtime that patients experience.

Pre–Treatment

Patients cannot be tanned during the course of this treatment, as it increases the risk of pigmentation problems. A sunscreen should be used daily.

Details of Procedure

Patients should expect to be in the clinic for approximately 1 hour for their treatment. The treatment itself is extremely well tolerated. A series of 5 treatments is normally recommended and these appointments are scheduled 4–6 weeks apart.

Post Treatment Care

Cicaplast (accelerated topical healing ointment) and 60SPF will be applied to the skin following your treatment. We do recommend purchasing both of these products through the Skin Spa for use in between your treatments. Side effects are minimal and typically involve minimal swelling, and redness. Mild swelling in the areas treated more aggressively should subside within a few days, and the pink tone will usually fade over several days. The Pixel pattern may be seen with some flaking 3–5 days following treatment. A good moisturizer can help to minimize this flaking. Patients can also use makeup immediately following treatment in order to eliminate any residual redness. The Skin Spa does offer complimentary consultations and colour matching if you are interested in purchasing an anti–microbial/anti–inflammatory mineral makeup which is fantastic for use after any skin treatments. Patients can also return to routine activities right away. Also, if you have a history of cold sores, Valtrex may be prescribed for you to reduce the risk of an outbreak.

Possible Risks

There are limited, if any risks associated with Pixel laser.
