Hypertrophic/Keloid Scars

These are thick red scars that usually occur at the site of injury or surgery. Development is dependant upon heredity as well as the kind of trauma and especially the site. They tend to be much more common on the neck and the chest.

They are treated with a triple therapy consisting of injections of the scar with a cortisone preparation, treatment of the scar with the laser usually either the pulsed dye laser or the V-Star laser followed by topical silicone gel therapy. With 8-9 treatments, one should see a very significant improvement in these scars.
