Chemical Peels

Some individuals feel that their skin has lost the healthiness and glow that it once had. Chemical peels are a great option for patients who wish to restore a youthful complexion, often without significant downtime or discomfort. Chemical peels come in a variety of different solutions, which enables us at the Institute of Cosmetic and Laser Surgery to entirely customize a treatment program to suit individual needs. These peels include Jessners, Kojic, TCA and Salicylic. All peels are designed to remove superficial layers of skin to reveal fresh, new skin cells underneath. Chemical peels can be used to address uneven skin tone, pigmented and textural acne scarring, acne, clogged pores, dull skin, fine lines and brown spots. They also treat a number of other conditions including xanthelasma and torn earlobes.

At the time of the procedure a chemical peel solution will be applied to clean, dry skin. Additional layers may be applied depending on the concern, and the type of peel. A fan will be passed over the skin to dry the chemicals, as well as to soothe any stinging discomfort. Some patients will experience visible peeling around 3–5 days after the peel. We do recommend repeat treatments spaced approximately 4–6 weeks apart.
