Arm Lift – Brachioplasty
Brachioplasty, also known as arm lift surgery, is a procedure that is used to remove excess skin and fatty deposits from the upper arm. As we age, the skin loses elasticity and becomes lax. Also, after losing dramatic amounts of weight, the skin may not be able to fully return to its original state. Unfortunately, diet and exercise typically have little effect on diminishing the appearance of this excess skin and surgical excision of the skin is often the most effective way to achieve a more toned appearance.
The operation is performed in our fully accredited Oakville clinic under local anaesthesia with sedation, or under general anaesthesia. The procedure takes approximately two to three hours to perform. Patients can expect to have scarring that extends from the armpit, along the inside of the arm to the elbow. Patients who have been plagued by excess skin are not often bothered by the appearance of this scar as it is concealed with the arms at your side, and scarring does fade significantly over time.
