Mole Mapping: We Know Where It’s At.

October 20, 2011ICLS0Tags: , , , Categories: Home, ICLS

Mole mapping is a relatively recent phenomenon. It is basically a surveillance program for those who have had skin cancers removed, have a lot of moles or have a family history of skin cancer or malignant melanoma. Here at ICLS, we use the superman of all mole mapping technology called the FotoFinder Dermoscope. The FotoFinder system links digital images of moles as a baseline and compares them months and years later to ensure that they have not changed in shape, size or colour. This makes the identification and tracking of lesions easy peasy pie because even the slightest changes in mole structure are visualized. Furthermore, melanoma that does not satisfy the “classical clinical” features of melanoma are much more easily detected, examined and identified for surgery. Honestly, what’s not to love? We have had such great interest in this procedure, and patients can call and book a consultation to discuss FotoFinder at any time.
