There is something kind of nice about committing to a set of resolutions. I am pretty rubbish at following through with them, but I am sure I am not the only one. I believe resolutions are important for mental and spiritual growth to stay true to one’s nature. Whether it be personally or professionally, we must look forward – not back – at the things we want and need to maintain our self-identity.
Looking back on my last year’s resolution, I tried to think of something simple that I couldn’t be fooled into breaking. Needless to say, I did. I had no idea until this years end that I completely broke my promise on numerous occasions! I would have never thought having a positive mind and outlook would be so difficult to follow but with all of life’s curve balls, it’s so easy to stray. I may not have the financial fortunes (that I’d wish to have 😉) but looking back, all my riches can be found in the support of an amazing family, wonderful children in my life to put a smile on my face, a loving husband and very charismatic dog to remind me of all that I am grateful for. So hey, I may not have done so badly after all!
Moving forward into 2016, I am challenging not only myself, but all of you to create a ‘Happy Jar’ for your family, yourself, or someone you love. Throughout the year, when special things happen, write down all the little things that brought joy and laughter to your life, dreams that came true, goals that were achieved. Then on the fast approaching New Years that will follow, open your jar and reflect. I am sure you will all be happily surprised and grateful that you did!
If there is anything I have learned over the years, is that we all must be kind, be grateful, and be the best you that you can be. I truly believe that a positive mind, is a healthy and successful one. So with that, I wish you all a happy, safe and prosperous New Year!
